Subject: Preservative Ingredient for Dacriose

Hello, all!

I apologize for cross-posting and possibly posting off-topic, but I
didn't know which newsgroups would be appropriate. If you know of a
newsgroups for which this post is appropriate (or to which it was posted
but is inappropriate), please let me know and i will undertake the
appropriate action.

My mom lost her left eye in a car accident as a child and has a false
eye. This false eye needs to lubricated, and, until recently, she has
used Dacriose.

In fact, she pretty much *needs* to use Dacriose, because it is the only
lubricating solution to whose preservative she has not been found to be
allergic.

Unfortunately, Dacriose is off the market, as you may be aware. We
managed to find generic Dacriose at a nursing supply company, but, if
that product goes off the market, my mom is in trouble.

So, does anyone know what the preservative in Dacriose was or ( and this
is probably asking too much) which other false eye lubricating products
use this preservative? This information would be just invaluable to my
mom. We have been unable to glean this information from the bottle's
ingredients list or our pharmacist.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Sincerely,
Jeffrey Rolland
